People often tell us that they don’t know how we manage life with triplets. The truth is that this is our “normal”…and we wouldn’t have it any other way! There’s never a dull moment in our house and, since Isabella’s diagnosis in 2012, we’ve become experts at accepting the challenges life has thrown at us. Isabella and her brother, Max, and sister, Mia, are best friends…but as different as three kids could be. We love watching them grow into fascinating little people and it’s truly amazing to see their care and concern for one another.
Though we were born and raised in Ohio, we’ve had the opportunity to live in Brazil, Argentina (where the triplets were born!), and Mexico. After 5 years, 3 kids, and 1 T1D diagnosis, we were happy to settle back “home” in the U.S. We have been so fortunate to have made friends from around the world during our time abroad and feel like we have people supporting our journey to a cure in our backyard AND around the globe!
Since Isabella’s diagnosis we have vowed to be advocates in every way for our daughter and every person diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Through our advocacy work and fundraising, we are optimistic that a cure can be found in Isa’s lifetime. We hope to serve as a means of support for newly-diagnosed families and are happy to speak with anyone who would like to know more about our journey. We are thankful to everyone who has supported our efforts so that one day we can say “Our daughter USED TO have type 1 diabetes.”
