Archives for May 2013

This photo was taken a year ago during our first family vacation…it’s amazing how much has changed in a year for the two beautiful people in this picture. Isabella is truly blessed to have such an amazing role model of strength in her grandma, who is currently battling breast cancer.

Anyone who knows our family well can attest to the fact that we are passionate about things we believe in and we don’t give up. We were beyond moved by the support and generosity of our family, friends, and some complete strangers, who supported our efforts last year to raise funds for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. In just 3 weeks we raised more than $6,000 towards finding a cure for type 1 diabetes and hope we can pass that number this year.

We have just launched our fundraising page and would truly appreciate any support you would like to provide! The Walk will be held on Sunday, September 29th at the Cleveland Zoo and we are searching for walkers of every age to join our Inspired by Isabella team!

Here is a link to our fundraising page…please share with family and friends and sign up to join us! As always, thank you for your support of Isabella!

Adjust our sails…and pray for a cure

923562_447800455307448_564702348_nThere have been relatively few tears shed in our house because of Isabella’s diagnosis as we are true believers that we’ve been given this life for a reason. Well, today the tears won out.

In searching for a preschool for Isa and her siblings for our impending return to the U.S. this summer, I never imagined what a challenge her diabetes would pose. While I understand 100% the concerns schools might have about a child with T1D enrolled, it’s not easy to hear them say “We’re just not comfortable with her being here” or “We may not be able to consider her but your other two we would be happy to have.”

Isabella is an amazing little girl and I know that no matter what challenges come our way, we’ll just adjust our sails…and pray for a cure

Thanks for your support

Since Isa’s diagnosis last August we have been doing our part, as small as it may be, to try to raise awareness and funds towards finding a cure for type one diabetes. Wetruly believe Isa’s story and smile (see the pic below!) can help to change the world and we want to be drivers of that change. That’s why I’m particularly excited to announce I’ve been nominated to the Board of Directors of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of JDRF! Can’t wait to share our ideas!

Thanks for your support of Isa and our family in our journey to a cure!
